Eight-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion Von Miller is set to join the Dallas Cowboys for his fifteenth NFL season. Miller announced his move to Dallas, although the terms of the contract have yet to be revealed. In a social media post, Miller expressed his excitement about playing for the Cowboys, sharing a photoshopped image of himself in their uniform.
Demarcus Ware, a former Cowboys legend and Super Bowl-winning teammate of Miller’s, shared a FaceTime screenshot with Miller, showcasing their camaraderie and welcoming Miller to “#CowboysNation”.
Miller was named MVP for his performance in Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers. He previously played for the Washington Commanders, where he recorded nine sacks and 26 combined tackles over 17 games in the previous season.
Miller will now face his former team, the Commanders, along with other NFC East competitors while playing for the Cowboys. A Hall of Fame candidate, Miller has two first-team All-Pro honors. He enters the 2026 NFL season tied with Demarcus Ware for ninth all-time in career sacks at 138.5.
Returning home to Texas, Miller first gained recognition at DeSoto High School before making national waves at Texas A&M. Dallas is only a short drive from Miller’s hometown.
The Cowboys are looking to bolster their pass rush, an area needing improvement since trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Dallas managed only 31 sacks last season, ranking among the league’s lowest. Defensively, the Cowboys allowed the third-most yards and most points per game.
Dallas has made several moves this offseason to strengthen their defense. With new defensive coordinator Christian Parker, the team added notable players including Rashan Gary, Otito Ogbonnia, and Dee Winters, along with first-round draft picks Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence.
As the Cowboys aim to maintain their offensive prowess, Miller’s arrival could provide the necessary defensive boost. His stellar performance last season and returning to his home state might fuel his impact on the Cowboys this season.
