Indiana Fever Struggles in Playoff Opener Against Las Vegas Aces

The Indiana Fever entered the postseason struggling, following a 20-point loss to the Minnesota Lynx. Their first playoff game provided little relief as the Las Vegas Aces dominated with a 102-85 victory in the first round.

During the game, A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces delivered a standout performance. Wilson, a strong contender for MVP, led both offense and defense, finishing with 38 points and 16 rebounds.

Despite hopes to challenge the defending champions, Indiana found themselves trailing from the start. The Aces rapidly built a lead of 27 points, making it difficult for the Fever to compete in the second half.

Indiana’s Caitlin Clark achieved a double-double with 15 points, 10 assists, and three rebounds. However, the Aces’ defense pressured her throughout the game, impacting her shooting. Clark made 6 of 18 shots, including three from long range, while committing six turnovers and accumulating five fouls.

Kelsey Mitchell also had difficulty scoring, recording just 12 points and three assists, with a 4-of-16 shooting performance. In contrast, Aliyah Boston led Indiana with 18 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Off the bench, Sophie Cunningham scored 13 points and hit three three-pointers, but it was insufficient to threaten the Aces.

With the series moving to Indianapolis for Game 2 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday, the Fever need to win to extend their season and force a Game 3.
