The NFL offseason is in full swing as teams take a break from mid-June to mid-July between minicamp and training camp. This period marks the quietest time of the year for football. However, for fans eager for the next season, training camp begins in just three weeks, leading into the preseason and regular season, which commences the week of September 7.
During this offseason, we have analyzed training camp previews and focused on key position battles for all 32 teams. Now, we turn our attention to one rookie from each team who could secure a starting role in training camp. Our current focus is on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mansoor Delane: Draft Highlight
The Kansas City Chiefs executed a strategic draft move by trading up to the sixth overall pick to secure Mansoor Delane. Recognized as a unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC selection, Delane is central to the team’s plans. Following the trade of Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams, the position of CB1 in Kansas City is wide open.
Competing for this position are Kristian Fulton, Nohl Williams, and L’Jarius Sneed. Yet, Delane stands out as the leading contender. His record in college football speaks volumes. Last season, Delane allowed only 40% completion on 35 targets, tallying 14 catches, while conceding merely 165 yards and no touchdowns. His passer rating in coverage was an impressive 31.3.
His knack for turnovers is equally notable. Over his four years with LSU and Virginia Tech, Delane registered eight interceptions, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
The Chiefs have their eyes on another playoff run, and a solid secondary is crucial when facing quarterbacks like Bo Nix, Justin Herbert, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, Drake Maye, and Brock Purdy in the coming season.
With Delane’s credentials, he is expected to emerge from camp as the Chiefs’ primary cornerback.
