Israel Criticizes UK’s Green Party Over Zionism Stance

On October 5, 2026, Israel responded with sharp criticism to the British Green Party’s recent declaration that classifies Zionism as a form of racism. Israel described this stance as a “stain on the history of the United Kingdom” and urged British political leaders to reject the resolution clearly.

The Green Party of England and Wales took this position during its conference in Brighton. The party defined Zionism as an ideology for “an ethnonationalist Jewish state” and placed its support behind a “single democratic Palestinian state in all of historic Palestine.” The party’s motion outlined Zionism as responsible for the ongoing dehumanization, displacement, and disenfranchisement of Palestinians.

The motion saw 1,022 votes in favor versus 813 against, revealing divisions within the party on this topic. Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the Green Party in a statement on X, accusing the party of legitimizing terrorism rather than acting as a political entity.

“The Greens have adopted not only the green of Hamas, but also its ideology: the elimination of the State of Israel through armed struggle,” the statement said. “The shocking resolution adopted today legitimizes armed struggle, calls for a Palestinian state ‘from the river to the sea’ – signifying the destruction of the State of Israel – and labels as ‘racist’ the aspiration of the Jewish people for self-determination.”

Israel emphasized that the resolution exceeds the limits of legitimate political discourse. Israeli officials stressed that as long as this resolution persists, it tarnishes the United Kingdom’s history. They called on all British political parties, including the governing Labour Party, to reject the resolution unequivocally.

This is an evolving story, with more updates to come.
