Influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were taken into custody in Miami following new rape and sex trafficking charges issued by U.K. prosecutors. Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service reported that these charges involve four additional victims, following evidence from Bedfordshire Police in southeastern England. The accusations encompass rape, assault, trafficking, and offenses pertaining to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
Background on the Tate Brothers
Andrew, 39, and Tristan, 38, hold dual U.S.-British citizenship and are known for their social media presence that endorses wealth and male dominance. Andrew is a former professional kickboxer with over 10 million followers, predominantly boys and young men, on X. His accounts have been banned from platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for hate speech violations. He also runs an online academy focusing on becoming wealthy and attracting women. Tristan shares a similar background in kickboxing. Both brothers are vocal supporters of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Current Charges Against the Tates
The Tates face several accusations in the U.K. and Romania. The newly announced charges pertain to offenses that occurred between 2010 and 2017. Andrew Tate faces seven additional counts of rape, three counts related to facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault, and 19 counts involving indecent images and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate is charged with sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of facilitating sex trafficking. The Crown Prosecution Service has requested the Tates’ extradition from the U.S., and they are now awaiting extradition proceedings to return to the U.K.
Previous charges against the Tates involve rape, bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for financial gain linked to three other alleged victims in the U.K. between 2012 and 2015. In a June ruling, a U.K. High Court judge dismissed the Tates’ request to learn the names of their accusers.
In Romania, the brothers were arrested in late 2022 along with two Romanian women, accused of criminal activities aimed at exploiting women sexually. They deny these allegations, and the Romanian case has stalled due to legal and procedural setbacks. Despite this, the Romanian investigation remains open, alongside a separate legal case against them.
Andrew Tate has contended that Romanian prosecutors have no evidence against him and posits that political motives aim to silence him.
The Tates’ Presence in the U.S.
U.K. authorities initially sought the Tates’ extradition following the conclusion of Romanian legal proceedings. However, travel restrictions lifted in February 2025 allowed them to travel to Florida by private jet. Romania’s foreign minister noted at the time that a U.S. official from the Trump administration had shown interest in their legal situation. When questioned, Trump claimed unfamiliarity with the case and denied influencing the Romanian government to release the Tates.
