Social media circulated footage showing this incident as security escorted him into a hotel in New York City.

This egg-throwing event added to recent tensions involving Knicks fans, highlighted by altercations with Spurs supporters after San Antonio’s Game 3 victory. These confrontations featured Spurs fans having jerseys ripped off, prompting Wembanyama to decry the behavior.

Wembanyama voiced his frustration:

“My thoughts, of course, are that we can’t forget it’s a game. We’re just playing a game out there. I am all for passion, but with the respect of each other. It’s unacceptable.”

Echoing this sentiment, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg criticized the actions on his show. He stated:

“If you’re throwing eggs at Victor Wembanyama and beating up people… you’re disgracing yourself and everyone who knows you.”

The incidents surrounding the Knicks-Spurs finals have been eventful. The New York Police Department reported arrests following the Spurs’ Game 3 victory. In Bryant Park, numerous fights broke out near a watch party, resulting in 21 arrests. These included charges for disorderly conduct, assaulting officers, weapons possession, and menacing. Thirteen were released after being charged with disorderly conduct.

This year marks the Knicks’ first NBA Finals appearance since 1999, when they lost to the Spurs. Their last NBA title was in 1973. The series heads back to San Antonio for Game 5, with a potential Game 6 scheduled to return to New York.
