Panic swept through a Spanish theme park on Saturday when a rider on a Batman-themed roller coaster sustained serious leg injuries, as reported by local media. The incident took place on the Batman Gotham City Escape at Parque Warner Madrid, the park disclosed in a message on X.
The injured person, aged 49, suffered an open fracture in one leg and a closed fracture in the other, according to emergency services cited by Europa Press. The park confirmed that the ride was halted immediately and emergency protocols were put into action.
“The affected person was attended to immediately by emergency medical services,” stated Parque Warner.
The coaster, inaugurated in 2023, holds the title of Spain’s first multi-launch roller coaster. It features three high-speed launches and four inversions that briefly suspend riders upside down. Emergency responders transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital via airlift, as reported by Europa Press.
Visitor Juan José Molina recounted the scene, noting, “There were people crying and having anxiety attacks.” The roller coaster is now closed while management and authorities examine the incident further.
