Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting in East Los Angeles where four individuals sustained injuries from gunfire. The incident took place following the Mexico-England World Cup soccer game.

A report from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department indicates that the shooting occurred at Whittier Boulevard and Leonard Avenue. An argument led one individual to draw a firearm, resulting in gunfire around 9:35 p.m.

Two men, considered the primary targets, were shot and hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening. A woman and a young male, who were also hit, relocated and later contacted deputies. They received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries as well.

The crowd was celebrating Mexico’s performance in the World Cup despite their 3-2 loss to England. Authorities have not released further information about the shooter.
