An unfortunate incident occurred near Liberty Island in New York Harbor on Saturday night, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including an infant. According to authorities, the New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to a report of a capsized boat around 10:25 p.m.
Before police arrived at the scene, nearby individuals managed to rescue twelve people from the water. NYPD divers later found an adult female and an infant in the water. Both were transported to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn in a critical state, but unfortunately, they were pronounced dead there. Their identities have not yet been released to the public.

Police stated that some other passengers from the boat were also taken to the hospital and are reported to be in stable condition. The exact reason for the capsizing is still under investigation, and currently, no arrests have been made regarding the incident.
A police source informed Fox News Digital that the boat involved was a 22-foot bowrider. The NYPD’s Harbor Unit, Scuba Team, and Aviation Unit, in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard, were deployed to the scene for rescue operations.
