Fox Nation revisits the significant impact of Charlie Kirk’s assassination on a Christian private high school in Louisiana. The reality series, “God. Family. Football.,” showcases how Pastor Denny Duron, head football coach at Evangel Christian Academy, leads his team through the challenges following the loss of the Turning Point USA leader. Episode two highlights the pressures of the 2025 football season and how Duron honors Kirk’s memory.
Duron reflects in the episode, “That young man was a young man I admired.” As a platform to share his faith, Duron uses football, acknowledging Kirk’s use of politics for a similar purpose.
After Kirk’s death, during a practice session, Duron urges his players to avoid succumbing to hate-fueled violence. “There is a spirit of anger in the world today,” he asserts. “If Jesus forgave you for everything, then you can not hold anything against anybody.” He emphasizes the essence of Christianity, urging forgiveness instead of anger. Duron holds a moment of silence for Kirk and calls on his team to “pray for peace on Earth.”
The tribute extends beyond the field into classroom discussions. Offensive coordinator and civics teacher, Kramer Hagan, encourages students to discuss Kirk’s death. “I’m excited just to hear their thoughts and see how this younger generation is reacting,” he states. Hagan emphasizes, “Jesus doesn’t teach us to be dehumanizing towards others. You must defend your beliefs without losing your humanity.”
Amid a politically tense environment, the team faces several challenges during the season. Overcoming district rivals, handling a battle with leukemia, and confronting Parkinson’s disease diagnosis are among these trials.
