A tragic incident occurred on Friday in Nonthaburi province, Thailand, where a shooting took place at a high school outside Bangkok. The Debsirin Nonthaburi School became the scene of a violent attack, as reported by Royal Thai Police spokesperson Trairong Piwpan. The perpetrator was identified as a student who remained inside the school, resulting in fatalities and injuries.

The Ministry of Interior’s permanent secretary, Arsit Sampantharat, confirmed the developments to news station PPTV but did not provide specific numbers regarding the casualties. Images captured around an hour after the event showed people gathered outside the school, comforting each other, while police and first responders moved inside the school premises. Although the building seemed to be secured, there was no official statement about the shooter’s status.

A witness recounted to reporters that students took shelter inside a classroom, as gunshots echoed from another building. Police officers eventually reached them and safely escorted them out.

This incident follows several recent violent episodes in Thailand. Earlier in the year, a 17-year-old caused chaos by stealing a firearm from the police and attacking a public high school in southern Thailand, taking hostages for two hours, resulting in one death and two injuries. In another incident in 2023, a 14-year-old boy was charged with a shooting at a major shopping mall in Bangkok.
