Henry Winkler recently opened up about a challenging experience with a former guest star during his time on Happy Days. At a fan event in Tennessee, Winkler, who is now 80, reflected on the teamwork and camaraderie on the show’s set. He emphasized that the cast functioned as an ensemble without personal stardom overshadowing their work.

Winkler recounted an incident with a guest actor who frequently mentioned receiving fan mail. Winkler advised him that discussing such matters was inappropriate on their set as they prioritized unity. Despite the warning, the guest actor persisted, which led Winkler to describe him unfavorably.

“We don’t talk about that on the set,” Winkler said, stressing the importance of collective effort.

Winkler didn’t reveal the actor’s identity but mentioned that the character he played was named Eugene. Winkler himself portrayed Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli throughout the entirety of Happy Days from 1974 to 1984, which led to a successful career in film and television.

Apart from his iconic role, Winkler recently participated in the third season of “Loot”. Interestingly, he performed his first nude scene during the production. Winkler described being quite surprised by the costume, a silk robe, during a cold January shoot on the beach.

Though Winkler achieved fame and earned Golden Globe nominations, his first Emmy Award came in 2018 for his role as Gene Cousineau in “Barry”. In this show, he played an acting coach who befriends a wanted assassin, portrayed by Bill Hader.

Following his Emmy win, Winkler advised aspiring actors to be themselves, honest about their abilities, and prepared. He likened his career growth to planting a tree that flourished over time.
