An Indiana Fever representative swiftly ended a reporter’s query directed at the team’s players regarding Sophie Cunningham’s remarks on trans athletes at a postgame press conference in Portland. This occurred soon after the Fever’s 112-98 victory over the Portland Fire.

The press conference exchange came to a sudden halt and was omitted from the team’s official YouTube video of the event. Present at the podium were Fever players Aliyah Boston, Makayla Timpson, and head coach Stephanie White. Boston had responded to a question about how the team remained unaffected by external attention.

“Yeah, I think first of all that’s what we build with who we have coming in. We know that there is always going to be attention with the Fever and for us it’s about coming in and winning games. It’s about showing up and doing what we can to continue to take steps forward in this league, and I think there is always going to be outside noise,” Boston expressed.

“But I think we’ve been professionals long enough to know that if you let that affect you then you’re not really here for the right things, so for us we just keep the main thing the main thing, and that’s hoop.”

Following Boston’s reply, the reporter from OutKick attempted to ask about Cunningham’s comments on the women’s sports debate affecting the WNBA. A Fever representative intervened immediately, stating, “We’re going to wrap up here.” Boston then thanked the reporters and departed.

The Fever’s YouTube video concluded with Boston’s answer, excluding the interaction with the reporter and public relations staff. The Fever declined to comment when asked.

Additionally, Caitlin Clark was unavailable for comment despite achieving her fourth career triple-double in the game, marking the team’s fifth consecutive win. Clark had similarly missed media availability in the prior match.
