As the Tony Awards approach, now is the time to decide which shows to support by watching as many nominated productions as possible. “The Lost Boys” and “Schmigadoon!” lead with 12 nominations each. A revival of “Ragtime” follows closely with 11. “Death of a Salesman” has nine nominations and is the most recognized play.
Some limited-engagement shows — such as “Bug,” “Liberation,” “Little Bear Ridge Road,” “Marjorie Prime,” “Oedipus,” “Punch,” and “Waiting for Godot” — have closed. However, most nominated productions remain on stage. Here’s how to see them before the Tony Awards on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall.
Buying Tickets
If you’re comfortable paying full price, purchase tickets directly from the production’s website. To avoid convenience fees, buy in person at the theater box office. Shopping around can save you money, provided you use reliable sources like TodayTix, BroadwayBox, and TheaterMania, which often offer discounts. Avoid unverified vendors due to the risk of counterfeit tickets.
Discount Options
If you’re okay with buying tickets close to the show time and uncertain seat locations, consider lottery or rush tickets. Every nominated show offers this option at a significant discount. You must win the lottery or get rush tickets before they sell out. Playbill provides details on lottery and rush ticket policies.
TKTS booths, both outdoors in Times Square and inside Lincoln Center, sell discounted same- or next-day tickets. Several nominated productions are included among their offerings.
