Two years have passed since Hurricane Helene devastated numerous areas in the Southeast. Many impacted communities are still in the process of rebuilding and healing. A new initiative captures their recovery journey in an unexpected format: a graphic novel.

William Brangham recently engaged in a conversation with Andrew Aydin regarding the graphic novel titled “Islands in the Sky: A People’s History of Hurricane Helene.” This discussion forms part of our arts and culture series, CANVAS.

William Brangham is recognized for his contributions as an award-winning correspondent, producer, and occasional anchor for PBS News Hour. He also hosts the program Horizons from PBS News.
