Florida Woman Escapes Cross-Country Kidnapping Ordeal

A Florida woman survived a harrowing three-week kidnapping after her ex-boyfriend allegedly held her captive across the United States. She ultimately leaped from a California balcony to save herself, authorities reported on Thursday.

Suspect Arrested

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno announced the arrest of 41-year-old Floyd Stuck. He faces charges including kidnapping, aggravated stalking, installing a tracking device without consent, and eluding law enforcement. Authorities revealed a violent abduction that started in Southwest Florida.

Uncovered Threats

The investigation began on a Tuesday when the victim alerted Lee County Sheriff’s Office about Stuck attempting to place a tracking device on her vehicle. Deputies discovered what Marceno described as a prolonged nightmare.

“This suspect is a calculated maniac and a very dangerous person,” Marceno stated in a press conference.

Investigators found Stuck convinced the victim to take a supposed three-day trip to New York. Their journey started on April 20, but soon turned into a three-week ordeal of fear and violence.

Journey of Terror

Authorities reported that Stuck confiscated the victim’s phone and wallet, and drove her through multiple states. Along the way, he allegedly threatened her life and attacked her, leaving physical injuries.

The situation worsened in San Diego, where investigators said Stuck restrained the victim, threatened her with a knife, and warned she would die by the next morning.

Escaping to Freedom

After three days, the victim escaped. Taking advantage of a food delivery distraction, she jumped from a balcony to a neighboring house. Police were contacted, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Ongoing Threat

After returning to Lee County, the victim caught Stuck on her security camera planting a tracking device. Responding deputies launched an immediate search.

Stuck eluded capture for a time, using various phone numbers to harass the victim while pretending to be in South America. Deputies later spotted him in Bonita Springs and pursued him across counties, leading to his arrest.

A Dangerous Criminal

Marceno referred to Stuck as “one of the most dangerous suspects” his team had ever encountered. Stuck has a criminal record involving armed robbery, fraud, arson, and more.

Authorities continue to investigate, with potential charges in numerous states. Marceno concluded that removing Stuck from public life makes the world safer.

The investigation is ongoing, and further charges might arise in different states.
