Escalation in Israel-Hezbollah Conflict Amid US-Iran Negotiations

Amid conflicting messages from President Trump regarding progress on a deal to end the war with Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated an intensification of conflict with Hezbollah. He stated on social media, “We are at war with Hezbollah.”

Despite an American-brokered cease-fire effective since April, clashes between Israel and Hezbollah continue. Each blames the other for violating the truce as recent escalations test the fragility of the agreement.

In a video statement, Netanyahu claimed Israeli forces had killed over 600 Hezbollah militants in recent weeks and vowed to increase military pressure. “We are not removing our foot from the pedal,” he declared, emphasizing the need to push harder.

This escalation complicates US-Iran negotiations, with Iran seeking to include Lebanon in any agreement. President Trump, however, has remained silent on the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in his communications concerning potential deals.

According to Lebanon’s health ministry, Israeli strikes have killed 3,185 people and injured more than 9,600 since clashes with Hezbollah restarted in March. The violence followed Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel, reacting to a US-Israeli offensive on Iran in late February, leading to hundreds of thousands displaced.
