After player Sophie Cunningham’s firm stance that women’s sports should remain exclusively female, discussions have intensified. Gabby Williams, a forward for the Golden State Valkyries, expressed willingness to welcome trans athletes into the league.

Freedom, wearing an orange WNBA sweatshirt with the Nike logo crossed out, stated on social media, “If simply declaring who you are is all that’s required, then I meet every requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA.” This statement challenges the league’s policies on gender identity and inclusion.
