An arrest warrant has been issued for Dr. Jill Stein, the former presidential candidate of the Green Party, after her absence at a scheduled court hearing related to an assault charge from 2024.
The hearing took place on Monday at 9 a.m., but neither Stein nor her attorney were present. Prosecutors attended the session without them.
Judge Karma Johnson from St. Louis stated, “There will be a failure to appear warrant for Ms. Stein,” according to a report by St. Louis Magazine.
The charges against Stein originated from a protest against the conflict in Gaza, which took place at Washington University in April 2024. During this demonstration, more than 100 individuals were arrested, but only Stein and one other person faced charges.
In March 2025, Stein was charged with misdemeanors for assault and trespass.
Newsweek has attempted to reach Stein for her comments via email outside usual business hours.
This story is still unfolding, with further updates expected.
