Comedian Jeff Dye responded to an incident involving fellow performer Laura Kightlinger after an insult was written on his Tesla. Dye expressed his views on the situation publicly, describing the actions of Kightlinger as “inappropriate for a 60-year-old” woman.

Dye used social media platform X to post footage from his Tesla’s security cameras, showing Kightlinger writing an insult on his windshield. Dye remarked about the incident, “Performed on a show with a comic I’ve never met. Her name is Laura Kightlinger @KingKightlinger. She seemed nice enough. We didn’t talk and she left before I went up. I’m assuming she didn’t know it was my Tesla she wrote ‘Douche’ on my Tesla. Strange behavior for a 60-year-old adult. Look forward to working with you again.”

If I’d written something similar on her car, she would’ve spent weeks talking about how ‘women are treated differently in Comedy’ and how even in her own business she ‘doesn’t feel safe.’

The post gained significant attention online with over 440,000 views. Laura Kightlinger, known as a writer and comedian, has worked as a consulting producer for “Will & Grace” and created several Comedy Central and HBO specials. She supported Bernie Sanders in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Dye, an outspoken conservative, shared his perspectives with Fox News Digital, stating, “I’ve always been more conservative than my comedic counterparts. I’ve always been way more religious as far as like, I’m a Christian, so that’s not a huge, popular thing in stand-up comedy.”

After Dye’s post, Kightlinger shared her perspective and an image of the word written on the windshield. She admitted to acting impulsively, noting, “I was so annoyed by his taking down of a comic who had just performed I impulsively wrote douche in the fog on his car.” She further stated that Dye’s way of responding should embarrass “tough-guy misogynists everywhere.”

Dye countered by highlighting that he was merely holding Kightlinger accountable for her actions while denying any personal attacks. He stated, “I’m not ‘crying out’. I’m simply holding you accountable for your bulls—. I’m also not a tough guy or a misogynist. I’m simply a fellow comedian that didn’t appreciate being called a name.”

Dye’s management released a statement noting that except for the writing, Dye’s car wasn’t vandalized and Dye wanted to hold Kightlinger responsible. The statement clarified, “Writing insults on people’s property is a totally expected behavior for fatherless teens but inappropriate for 60-year-old women.”

Entertainment reporter Christian Toto commented, “Comedians in recent years, it’s almost like they’re picking sides in a way.” Toto noted that conservative comedians often experience criticism and this incident broke traditional boundaries typically observed amongst comedians.

Toto reflected, “The fact that she chose a different path, I don’t think that suits her well.”

Fox News Digital attempted to reach Kightlinger’s representatives for a comment but received no immediate response.
