Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton: A Tense WWE Rivalry

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton have a tense relationship in WWE, marked by ongoing conflicts. The legendary ‘Legend Killer’ reignited his rivalry with the ‘American Nightmare’ on ‘Friday Night SmackDown.’ Despite their past confrontations, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis enforced a condition. Neither could touch the other until their match at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta. Violating this rule would result in a ban from competing for a WWE championship.

Their face-to-face meetings have been intense. Recently, Orton attempted to provoke Rhodes, labeling him an ‘addict’ and ‘sick’ due to his championship ambitions. Rhodes countered these claims in an interview with OutKick Dropkick. He noted, ‘Addicted to winning the championship’ and questioned why ambition in wrestling could be seen negatively. He explained that striking Orton would cost him his WWE championship opportunity, and vice versa.

Rhodes stated, ‘At King of the Ring, I beat Randy Orton. At WrestleMania, I beat Randy Orton. Every wrestler enters the ring to win. I’ve never trusted a wrestler who didn’t want to be champion.’

Rhodes also believes Orton is more ‘addicted’ as he approaches a record equaling 17 championships, nearing John Cena’s achievements. Rhodes remarked, ‘Orton may feel undervalued as one of modern WWE’s greatest, despite his history-making career.’

The rivalry is infused with desperation and ambition, highlighting the intense drive to be a champion in WWE. Rhodes is determined to re-enter the Undisputed WWE Championship scene as Money in the Bank approaches, with the upcoming match between him and Orton clarifying the championship picture.

Beyond Rhodes and Orton’s showdown, Sunday Night’s Main Event showcases a six-woman tag team match and other exciting bouts, including Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty and Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker. The event promises an engaging wrestling spectacle.
