Purpose of a Baby Towel Wrap

A baby towel wrap serves to keep your child warm and comfortable post-bath. Infants, especially those under two, have difficulty regulating their body temperature. Premature babies are particularly vulnerable to chills. A hooded towel wrap can help maintain warmth by covering both the body and head.

What to Consider Before Buying

Grams per Square Meter

This measurement signifies the fabric’s weight in a one-square-meter area. Higher GSM indicates thicker, more absorbent, and durable materials. Products typically range from 400 to 900 GSM. A higher GSM means longer drying times but enhanced durability.

Sets vs. Individual Purchases

Towel wraps may come as part of a set including washcloths or bath toys. Sets can be cost-effective but may have lower quality materials. Individual purchases allow for better quality control and customized selection.

Style Options

Most baby towel wraps feature hoods for added warmth. Styles vary in color and design, including animal motifs like elephants, dogs, or alligators.

Fabric Choices

Common materials are cotton and bamboo, known for being hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin. Some wraps use synthetics like nylon or blends of natural and synthetic fibers.

Size and Layers

The standard size for baby towel wraps is around 30 x 30 inches. Larger wraps accommodate bigger infants but should not be excessively large to avoid overwhelming the child. Wraps can be one-ply or two-ply, with two-ply options offering enhanced durability.

Cost Expectations

Baby towel wraps generally range from $15-$30, influenced by size and material quality.
