Arrest of Arizona Man Unrelated to Nancy Guthrie’s Abduction

An Arizona native named Luke Daley, previously detained and released without charges concerning the unsolved abduction of Nancy Guthrie, has been arrested again on unrelated charges. Local authorities confirmed this update.

According to a spokesperson from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, “Luke Daley was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on September 30, 2026,” with the clarification that these charges are unconnected to the Nancy Guthrie case.

Daley, aged 37, has a significant criminal background with numerous felony convictions. Police detained him on February 13 at a Culver’s parking area. They also conducted a search at his mother’s residence as part of the investigation into Guthrie’s kidnapping. The incident took place near her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills.

“Mr. Daley has no connection to Nancy Guthrie and possesses no details regarding her kidnapping,” stated Chris Scileppi, Daley’s legal representative, following Daley’s release.

Though Daley was later released without charges, the Guthrie investigation continues with no publicly identified suspects. Guthrie’s whereabouts remain unknown, and a masked individual on her Nest doorbell footage, seen at the time of her abduction, is yet to be apprehended.

Significantly, Daley faces pending allegations related to drug and firearm offenses. Additionally, he was on probation for previous violations involving drugs and weapons. Prosecutors have requested his probation be rescinded in this case.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for over eight months. Investigators recently highlighted two notes her family received. These notes, purportedly from her captors, came via media tip submission forms. While one note demanded a ransom, the other claimed she had died under unforeseen circumstances. Authorities have yet to validate these notes or identify the senders.

There is over $1.2 million in unclaimed reward money for information about Guthrie’s case. Anyone with knowledge is encouraged to contact the authorities by dialing 1-800-CALL-FBI or connecting with Tucson’s Crime Stoppers at 520-88-CRIME.
