Arch Manning is attracting significant attention as a key player in the SEC this fall. Expectations were high for the Texas quarterback entering the 2025 season, drawing comparisons to previous highly touted talents like Trevor Lawrence. Last season’s debut against Ohio State was challenging for Manning, ending with 170 passing yards, one touchdown, and an interception in a 14-7 defeat to the Buckeyes.

Despite a slow start, Manning found his form by late October. In a striking performance against Mississippi State on October 25, he delivered 346 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception, leading Texas to a 45-38 victory in overtime. His steady performances continued through November, notably in Texas’ 41-27 triumph over Michigan at the Citrus Bowl. This has led some within the NFL to predict that Manning could be a top pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, alongside Oregon’s Dante Moore.

SEC coaches are already expressing concern about Manning’s potential enhancement this season. A defensive coordinator from the SEC conveyed to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg hopes for an ‘off game’ from Manning against their team. Another SEC coach noted Manning’s improved prospects following the addition of wide receiver Cam Coleman from the transfer portal. The coach praised Manning’s arm strength and accuracy, emphasizing the challenge opposing defenses will face with both Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo on the field.

Last season, Manning amassed 3,163 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also contributed 399 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. The arrival of Coleman and running back Hollywood Smothers via the transfer portal has reinforced Texas’ offense alongside enhancements to their previously struggling offensive line.

With these enhancements, observers expect Manning to emerge as the premier quarterback in the SEC, placing Texas in a strong position to contend for the conference championship.
