Joe Abraham, an Angel Dad, has taken on a new role as the Executive Director of the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) office. This comes after losing his daughter, Katie Abraham, in a tragic incident caused by an illegal alien.
“This role is deeply personal and rooted in a mission I have come to understand through unimaginable loss,” Abraham said. He aims to ensure that victims are supported and never forgotten within the immigration system.
Abraham’s daughter, 20-year-old Katie Abraham, and her friend Chloe Polzin perished in a drunk driving hit-and-run incident in January 2025. The driver, Julio Cucul-Bol, a Guatemalan national, faced several charges and was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the crime.
Since this loss, Abraham has become a vocal activist, advocating for stricter immigration policies and the arrest and deportation of illegal aliens. He played a role in inspiring Operation Midway Blitz, a federal immigration enforcement maneuver in Chicago from September to December 2025, resulting in over 4,000 arrests.
Operation Impact: DHS reported significant results from Operation Midway Blitz, though it met resistance and protests from Democrats.
The VOICE Office, revived in April 2025 by the Trump administration, has been instrumental in supporting families affected by illegal alien crimes. It has handled 897 calls from victims and families, offering assistance and information. The office has documented assault as the most common crime at 35%, followed by rape and sexual assault at 17%, and homicide and manslaughter at 10%.
White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis commended Abraham as “the perfect choice” to lead the VOICE office, citing his advocacy against sanctuary policies and his focus on victim support.
A longstanding disagreement continues between the Trump administration and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker over sanctuary policies. The governor’s refusal to cooperate with ICE has sparked criticism, especially following the release of an illegal immigrant convicted of child sexual abuse.
Bis, formerly DHS assistant secretary, criticized Pritzker for prioritizing political rhetoric over the safety of Illinois citizens. This comes amid calls for greater accountability and cooperation between state and federal authorities.
As Abraham steps into his new role, the VOICE office aims to expand its efforts supporting victims and addressing illegal alien crime, strengthening the bridge between affected families and federal support systems.
