A fire involving an ammonia gas leak at a cold storage facility in Boyle Heights led to health warnings about air quality. The incident necessitated a shelter-in-place order affecting residents south of the 101 Freeway to Washington Boulevard, and east of Soto Street to Indiana Street.

Residents in the affected areas received the following instructions:

Smoke Advisory
A smoke advisory covered a large area of East Los Angeles. The public was advised to limit outdoor activities. Those with health issues were encouraged to stay indoors. Los Angeles County officials warned residents in Montebello, Monterey Park, and nearby areas to exercise caution. They suggested closing windows and doors, reducing outdoor activities, and limiting exposure to outdoor air.
