Ali Larter’s Move to Idaho Brings Simplicity and Family Focus

Landman star Ali Larter has found tranquility by relocating to Sun Valley, Idaho, leaving behind the bustling life she had in Los Angeles. At the Newport Beach TV Fest, she shared with Fox News Digital how her summers have changed since the move in 2020.

Larter explained, “Well, it’s totally different, so we can’t really get our kids to hike anymore, they don’t want to do that. But I can get them to take a bike ride and then do like a little cold plunge in the river.”

Life in Idaho has simplified for Larter’s family. There, the family enjoys activities like barbecuing, playing with their dogs, and her daughter Vivienne’s volleyball games. With extended daylight hours—sometimes lasting until 10 PM—they cherish long days spent together.

Larter and her husband Hayes MacArthur decided to stay in Idaho after moving there during the COVID-19 lockdown. Initially, they thought it was a temporary change while waiting for California schools to reopen.

The decision to remain in Idaho came as their children, including their son Teddy, found stability with in-person schooling. Larter noted, “We went for two months thinking that the kids’ schools would be reopened in California, and they weren’t. And so they were doing online, and the schools there were open. And so we were able to put our 6-year-old daughter in kindergarten for the spring semester.”

In Idaho, the family bonded through skiing and formed connections with local families. After returning to Los Angeles for the summer, they realized the demanding nature of an actor’s lifestyle which requires constant auditions, events, and engagements.

Larter acknowledged, “We just didn’t want to do that. We wanna be with our children.” This family-centric approach led them back to Idaho, pursuing a lifestyle where family remains the centerpiece.
