A.J. Brown’s Injury Adds to Patriots’ Challenges

The New England Patriots faced a tough loss on Wednesday against the Seattle Seahawks, ending in a close 13-10 defeat. Adding to their difficulties, star wide receiver A.J. Brown suffered a high ankle sprain. Reports indicate that Brown might be sidelined for three to six weeks.

Head coach Mike Vrabel expressed uncertainty about Brown’s availability, stating, “I don’t know if he’ll be available going forward here for the next week, but we’ll see.” The team is awaiting further reports to devise a treatment plan.

The impact occurred in the third quarter while Brown attempted a catch.

During the third quarter, Brown was injured when Seattle Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett’s knee contacted his ankle, forcing it into the ground. Brown was initially questionable for a return but was later ruled out of the game. Before leaving, he contributed three catches for 26 yards and drew a defensive pass interference penalty leading to the team’s lone touchdown.

The Patriots traded for Brown during the offseason, acquiring him from the Philadelphia Eagles with expectations of elevating the offense. His absence is noticeable, given his reliability and presence in the game. Over four seasons with the Eagles, Brown’s durability was evident, missing only six games.

The team will rely on other wide receivers like Romeo Doubs, Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas, and Kyle Williams in Brown’s absence. Doubs, signed with a substantial contract this offseason, faced a missed opportunity with a crucial drop during the game that led to an interception by Maye, one of three in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots are preparing for Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, aiming to overcome their early setback. The Associated Press contributed to this report. Ryan Canfield is noted for his role as a digital production assistant at Fox News Digital.
