The Raiders franchise began its journey in Oakland, California, on January 30, 1960. They were a founding member of the American Football League (AFL) and transitioned to the NFL following the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
In 1982, the franchise relocated and became the Los Angeles Raiders. This lasted until 1994, after which they returned to Oakland in 1995. The team stayed in Oakland until 2020.
In 2017, the NFL approved the Raiders’ plan to move to Las Vegas. The relocation became official in 2020, marking a new chapter for the franchise.
The Raiders have secured three Super Bowl titles. Their first victory came in 1976 during Super Bowl XI, led by the iconic head coach John Madden. The franchise claimed further triumphs in 1980 (Super Bowl XV) and 1983 (Super Bowl XVIII), though Madden was not the coach during these wins.
Currently, the Raiders compete in the AFC West division, alongside the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers.
