Stewart McLean, known for his role in ‘Virgin River,’ was found dead days after going missing. His friend, Jeff Seymour, an acting coach, shared his concerns about McLean’s disappearance with The Canadian Press. Seymour knew immediately that something was wrong when McLean didn’t show up for filming. ‘He was meticulous about everything,’ Seymour said, indicating that it was uncharacteristic of McLean to not show up for work.
The police have now turned McLean’s missing persons case into a homicide investigation. Seymour highlighted McLean’s situational awareness, making it difficult for anyone to get the better of him. Despite being a loner who spent much of his time reading at home in Squamish, McLean was well-loved, and no conflicts were known.
McLean went missing on May 18, leading the Squamish RCMP to initiate an investigation the next day. He was last seen at his home in Lions Bay on May 15. A recent police press release revealed that evidence suggested McLean was a homicide victim. On May 20, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the case.
The RCMP and IHIT are collaborating, along with the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), to advance the case. According to CBC News, IHIT confirmed finding and identifying McLean’s remains. The ongoing investigation involves gathering evidence, reviewing CCTV footage, and interviewing witnesses to trace McLean’s activities before May 15.
McLean’s acting career included roles in series such as Netflix’s ‘Virgin River,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Happy Face,’ and ‘Murder in a Small Town.’ Additionally, he worked as a producer on projects like ‘Travelers’ and ‘Beyond,’ gaining recognition in Canadian entertainment.
