A four-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound to his head inside a home on the Far South Side, authorities reported. Police officers were called to the home in the 2200 block of East 99th Street in the South Deering neighborhood. They arrived around 4 p.m. and discovered the injured child, according to Chicago police.
The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital and was initially listed in critical condition. Law enforcement officials stated that one firearm was recovered at the scene. Calumet Area detectives are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
