The suspect involved in a shooting at a downtown Minneapolis apartment was reportedly being evicted for threatening other tenants with a firearm.
The incident on Wednesday resulted in three fatalities, including the suspect, and injured five individuals. Among the wounded were three officers from the Minneapolis police force.
Officials have yet to disclose the identity of the alleged shooter. However, witnesses told KTSP that the man is Carlton Johnson II. Fox 9 also reported Johnson’s involvement, attributing this information to unnamed sources.
Records accessed by KTSP show that Johnson was undergoing eviction from his 9th-floor apartment. A court hearing regarding the matter was set for September 11.
The management of Loring Tower had lodged a complaint against Johnson, stating that his lease was intended for termination in June. This decision followed an incident where Johnson reportedly assaulted a fellow resident, brandished a weapon, and issued death threats.
This situation is evolving, with more updates to come.
