Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio believes many Americans support the vision offered by leaders in the Democratic Party’s socialist sector. He shared his views on this subject during an appearance on ‘The Ingraham Angle.’
De Blasio identified specific leaders who are resonating with the American populace. He mentioned Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as influential figures focusing on issues like affordability.
“There are specific leaders who have emerged out of DSA who are providing a vision that actually a lot of people in this country are hungry for,” de Blasio stated.
He emphasized that these leaders are gaining support because they address frustrations with the current political landscape. Their policies highlight raising wages, reducing healthcare costs, and ending conflicts like the war in Iran, impacting gas prices.
De Blasio is not a socialist or a member of the DSA, but he aligns with several policies such as Medicare for All and higher taxes on the wealthy. He supports ending the war in Iran and seeks changes to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He advocates replacing ICE with a new agency that ensures border security with less violence.
“We need a secure border, but we should abolish ICE because it’s a broken agency,” he declared.
He also suggested a path to legalization for undocumented immigrants without violent or serious crime records.
