Seaplane Crash in East River: All Passengers Rescued

A seaplane carrying eight individuals, including a 16-year-old and her grandmother, crashed into the East River near Manhattan on Sunday. The plane was en route from the Hamptons and experienced a sudden incident causing it to tip, with one wing submerging in the water.

The crash happened after a long Fourth of July weekend and occurred during the final seconds of the flight. The passengers, along with the pilot and a crew member, were rescued by the Fire Department, with none sustaining serious injuries.

Among the rescued were Ada Todd and her granddaughter Khloe Todd, who managed to capture the crash on her cellphone. Ms. Todd expressed relief at their survival, despite suffering minor pains including a headache and backache.

I wanted her to have an experience, but this experience was very bad. Thank God we’re alive.

Federal Aviation Administration officials reported that the plane’s wing strut, a brace connecting the wing to the fuselage, snapped during the crash. They are investigating the cause of the incident.
