The re-release of the Reagan movie presents a notable scene that includes a famous line from Ronald Reagan that was absent from its original version. In this scene, actor Dennis Quaid, portraying President Reagan, delivers a speech to the Building and Construction Trades Department of the AFL-CIO.

“You and your forebearers helped build this nation,” Quaid states in the scene. “Now help us rebuild it. And together, we will make America great again.” This line ties back to Reagan’s original use of the phrase during his 1980 campaign, a slogan later adopted by Donald Trump in his presidential campaigns.

The biopic, originally released during an election year, had excluded this line. Director Sean McNamara explained that its omission was intended to avoid any political implications. McNamara noted, “In the midst of a divisive election season, we decided to omit a part that might be construed as electioneering. This phrase, used by Reagan in 1980, was central to a speech just before he was shot.”

Now, as a part of America’s 250th-anniversary celebrations, the movie returns with additional footage, set for release in theaters on September 25. A special edition will offer 10 more minutes of unseen content.

There will be limited screenings in various cities on July 4 and a wider re-release in September across 600 theaters. Additional scenes highlight moments between Reagan and his wife Nancy in the Oval Office, with his father Jack, and at Rancho del Cielo, the Reagan family ranch near Santa Barbara.

Fox Nation’s Making Reagan, currently streaming, provides a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the biopic. It includes unseen footage, interviews with cast members like Elya Baskin, Will Wallace, and Kevin Dillon, and archival clips of Reagan himself.

The film, initially met with negative reviews in 2024, achieved a notably high audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, reflecting a divergent view between critics and viewers.
