Duolingo is offering language learners a chance to regain their progress. Starting Monday, June 1, users with a streak of 30 days or more can reclaim it by completing three lessons at once, as announced in a news release.
Users build streaks by using Duolingo daily. Missing a day previously meant starting over. According to Duome.eu’s unofficial Duolingo Streak Hall of Fame, the longest active streak is 4,890 days. This user, from Bethlehem, has used Duolingo nearly every day since its 2011 launch.
Across over 80 countries, the demand for streak recovery topped user requests. Chief Product Officer Cem Kansu stated it is a fitting feature for Duolingo’s 15th anniversary celebration.
How to Revive a Duolingo Streak
Eligible users will notice an option to restore their streak in the Duolingo mobile app. This feature is available from June 1 to June 30.
Additional Updates Coming to Duolingo
Besides streak recovery, several new updates launch on June 1:
- Expanded Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) content in nine languages.
- New free experiences such as Speaking Adventures with real-life scenarios, vocabulary flashcards, Explain My Answer for mistake analysis, and a practice hub for past lessons.
- Duolingo Score to showcase progress through standards-aligned curriculum.
- New courses in chess and math.
