Wynonna Judd Responds to Rosie O’Donnell’s Remarks on Her Political Views

Wynonna Judd expressed surprise upon hearing about Rosie O’Donnell’s comments regarding her political beliefs. The country music star reacted after O’Donnell publicly referred to Judd as a supporter of President Donald Trump.

Judd told People, “I’m in shock, just so you know. I’ve never spoken to her about politics in my life. She doesn’t know anything about my stuff. I’m an independent.” Her reaction followed O’Donnell’s statement, which Judd described as a complete assumption.

Judd elaborated, “I heard it and I went, ‘What the …?’ I don’t ever remember talking to her about this, so she’s just assuming.” Despite her shock, Judd clarified her stance stating she was not angry but confused by O’Donnell’s comments.

The misunderstanding arose after O’Donnell discussed their friendship during an appearance on “The Tangle with Kyle Ridley” podcast in August. O’Donnell claimed Judd was the only Trump supporter in her life that she still maintained a friendship with, emphasizing that their bond has allowed them to avoid political discussions.

“I am friends with Wynonna Judd, who I love very much, and I’ve known her for many, many years. And she is a supporter of Trump. And somehow, we never bring it up,” O’Donnell stated. Her comments highlighted the complexities of keeping a personal relationship with Judd while maintaining her outspoken criticism of Trump.

O’Donnell further expressed, “I kind of give her a grace in a way. She’s had so much in her life, with her mom taking her own life and just the complicated nature of her upbringing. And I really love her, and I care about her. And, for some reason, I’m able to put that aside when we interact.” Their friendship dates back to the 1990s when Judd frequently appeared on O’Donnell’s daytime talk show.

O’Donnell herself has been a vocal critic of Trump for years, with both exchanging public comments frequently. After Trump’s win in the 2024 presidential election, O’Donnell relocated to Ireland with her child while continuing to be involved in discussions about American politics.
