Caitlin Clark appeared to be facing a one-game suspension after receiving what was initially deemed her eighth technical foul of the season during Saturday’s game. However, the WNBA intervened promptly.

The league decided to rescind the technical foul assigned to the Indiana Fever star during their victory over the Chicago Sky. This action removed the penalty that would have automatically suspended Clark for one game.

If the technical had remained, Clark would have missed Tuesday’s matchup against the New York Liberty, a crucial game for Indiana as they pursue success this season.

A WNBA spokesman informed The Associated Press that the technical was rescinded a few hours post-game.

Clark was called for the technical in the third quarter after making contact with a referee while being forced out of bounds. Despite this, the Fever managed a 90-86 win.

Clark advocated for the technical to be nullified right after the game, asserting the contact was accidental and lacked any verbal exchange.

Facing the potential suspension, Clark expressed confidence that the league would review the incident and overturn the decision.

“She said I ran into her,” Clark remarked about the referee. “I’ve watched the replay. We’ll let the league decide. But, it wasn’t intentional or verbal. I hope it gets rescinded. And, nothing was said.”
