With only four days left in the WNBA 2026 regular season, the race to finalize playoff positions intensifies. The regular season concludes on Thursday, September 24, and the playoffs begin on Sunday, September 27.
Teams in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs
- Minnesota Lynx (32-10)
- Golden State Valkyries (31-11)
- Las Vegas Aces (29-13)
- Atlanta Dream (28-14)
- Indiana Fever (27-15)
- New York Liberty (26-16)
- Washington Mystics (26-16)
- Dallas Wings (26-16)
All eight teams are set for the playoffs but are still battling for their exact seeding. The Minnesota Lynx are leading and need one win or one Valkyries loss to secure the top spot. They have an advantage over the Golden State Valkyries, having won their season series 3-1. The Lynx face the Indiana Fever on Tuesday and Thursday.
The Valkyries will play the Portland Fire on Tuesday and the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday. Currently, only the Lynx and Valkyries have ensured home-court advantage in the first round. The Aces could secure home court by Monday night if the Dream lose. The Dream can still clinch by winning all their remaining games or if the Fever lose one. They cannot, however, clinch home court against the Liberty tonight.
WNBA Playoffs Seeding and Tiebreakers
The seeding and tiebreaker system includes comparison points such as:
- Better head-to-head record
- Higher winning percentage against teams finishing at .500 or better
- Better point differential in games between tied teams
- Overall point differential against all opponents
In cases of ties involving three or more teams, the process eliminates as many teams as possible before restarting at the first step for remaining tied teams.
