Despite endorsements from figures such as Reps. Ilhan Omar and Ro Khanna, Hong did not receive backing from Bernie Sanders, who cited insufficient familiarity with her campaign. Hong, a former chef and single mother, acknowledged voter concerns over her prior remarks.
