“The View” co-host, Whoopi Goldberg, addressed her audience on Tuesday regarding the blame placed on President Donald Trump for the New York Knicks’ loss. The Knicks hosted their first NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden since 1999, facing the San Antonio Spurs. Despite winning the initial games on the road, the Knicks lost 115-111. Trump’s attendance at the game sparked some fans to blame him for the outcome.

Goldberg mentioned, “A lot of Knicks fans are not happy with you-know-who right now,” in reference to the president. She criticized the idea, asserting, “They were not playing great ball. That was on us.” Describing the security difficulties caused by Trump’s visit, she stated, “He came into town, messed up everything, you couldn’t go — you couldn’t make a left.” Goldberg argued that Trump’s presence should not be blamed for the team’s defeat, emphasizing, “He doesn’t have the power.”

During the discussion, co-host Sunny Hostin made a face, prompting Goldberg to insist, “By saying that it’s his fault that we lost means that there’s no responsibility taken. These guys were not playing at their best.” Hostin, however, persisted, arguing that Trump’s presence brought “bad juju” to the game.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin remarked that having any president present during a winning streak could lead to blame for any losses, though she acknowledged Trump’s dedication as a longtime Knicks fan.

On the show, Goldberg also defended Trump’s and Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s right to attend the game as Knicks fans. She stated, “You earned the right as a Knicks fan. I don’t have to like you.” She further affirmed that their attendance had no power to influence the game’s outcome.
