On Sunday, Ukraine initiated a significant drone assault across Russia, resulting in at least six fatalities. This move marks one of Kyiv’s largest aerial operations during the ongoing conflict.

According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, 822 Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that around 600 drones were detected heading towards the Russian capital, with a third eliminated in the Moscow region.

An attack led to the death of an 83-year-old man in the Moscow region when a drone hit a private residence, as stated by local Governor Andrey Vorobyov. A blaze ignited by a drone strike on a warehouse in Podolsk, owned by the Russian retail giant Wildberries, produced columns of black smoke captured and shared by Russian media.

Images of the intense fire at the logistics hub in the Moscow region were reported by Reuters.

In Russia’s Rostov region, an attack using over 150 drones targeted three towns, resulting in five deaths, as per local Governor Yury Slyusar. This assault also damaged multiple homes and a railway station, and caused a forest fire.

Ukraine has been escalating its attacks on Russian targets this year. These maneuvers increasingly utilize long-range missiles and drone swarms aimed at military industries and energy infrastructure. Notably, Wildberries depots continue to face heavy bombardment, inflicting damage worth billions and affecting the Russian populace 4½ years into the war.

In a separate event, a Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine killed two individuals and injured 14, as shared by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on social media. Another death occurred in the city of Sumy.

A Russian assault on Kyiv led to fires throughout the Ukrainian capital and injured six. President Zelenskyy commented on the persistent threat posed by Russian ballistic missiles targeting civilian infrastructure, noting ongoing air raid alerts due to a new wave of drone strikes.
