On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, during a Cabinet meeting at the White House in Washington, President Donald Trump addressed national matters. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth observed the session. Meanwhile, the U.S. military executed another operation against a vessel accused of drug smuggling in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Saturday.

This mission marks the fourth strike in a single week, resulting in the death of three individuals. The total number of casualties from these operations now stands at 205. The U.S. Southern Command released a statement, categorizing the intercepted boat as one involved in narco-trafficking operations and linked to a terrorist organization. However, the military did not provide detailed evidence to support these claims.

These actions are part of an extended offensive against purported drug trafficking ships navigating the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific. Released military footage on social media shows a small boat in the ocean being targeted and caught in a large explosion.

The recent strike adds to the series of attacks which started in early September. Other similar operations were disclosed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of the same week. The Trump administration has pronounced the U.S. in active conflict with drug cartels from Latin America, blaming them for the distribution of illegal substances into U.S. areas.

The U.S. Southern Command indicated on its social media post that this latest strike was conducted under the orders of Gen. Francis L. Donovan, who leads military operations in Latin America.
