Authorities reported that two Chicago police officers sustained gunshot wounds on Friday evening in the South Shore neighborhood. The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. near the intersection of East 79th Street and South Chappel Avenue. Both officers were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, as confirmed by Chicago Fire Department spokesperson Larry Merritt.
