Trump’s Medical Exam Reveals Excellent Health

On Tuesday, Donald Trump underwent a medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. His physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, declared the president in “excellent health” and “fully fit” to serve as commander in chief. The report, released on Friday, explained that Trump, aged 79, went through a CT scan, heart imaging, cancer screenings, and other preventive checks performed by 22 specialists.

After the three-hour session, Trump stated that everything was “PERFECTLY” fine. He weighed 238 pounds, which is 14 pounds more than his weight during an April 2025 medical exam. However, his doctors advised on diet, exercise, and weight loss, but maintained that his “cognitive and physical performance are excellent.” Trump, who stands 6-foot, 3-inches tall, has a body mass index of 29.7, nearing obesity, which starts at a BMI of 30.

The exam also noted bruising on Trump’s hands due to “frequent handshaking,” attributed to “minor soft tissue irritation,” a common result of aspirin use. Doctors recommended switching to a low-dose aspirin. Previously, Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, common among older adults, leading to blood pooling in his legs. The recent exam showed slight leg swelling but improvement from the previous year.

Dr. Barbabella stated, “His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being.” The president successfully passed the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, scoring a full 30, consistent with previous years. His cholesterol levels have improved; his total cholesterol is now 143, down from 223 in 2018. He takes medications like rosuvastatin and ezetimibe to manage his cholesterol levels.

This exam, described by Trump as a six-month physical, marks his fourth publicly disclosed medical review since resuming office for a second term. As he gears up for the midterm elections, Trump seeks to demonstrate strength. Previous administrations have shared selective health details, offering insights into presidential health. However, no law mandates full disclosure, and transparency varies. Critics often target Trump’s reports for perceived lack of detail.

Trump will turn 80 next month, making him the oldest elected U.S. president. His predecessor, Joe Biden, left office at 82 due to age concerns. Trump actively counters public doubts about his age and endurance, frequently appearing with makeup covering bruises on his hands. Photographs show the president with swollen limbs. Despite this, he maintains he feels as vigorous as he did 50 years ago, occasionally joking about his love for fast food and maintaining minimal physical exercise aside from regular golf outings.
