Trump Pushes for Mass Firings at National Intelligence Office

President Trump has called for mass firings at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, he emphasized that employees who worked under previous Democratic administrations are among those who should be dismissed.

He has appointed Bill Pulte, who currently leads the Federal Housing Finance Agency, as his temporary choice to lead the intelligence office. Trump mentioned that Pulte would have more freedom due to his temporary status, granting him increased influence despite the limited timeframe.

The president announced Pulte would not be nominated for a permanent position, as Senate confirmation is not being sought. Pulte, having been Senate-confirmed for his current role, can serve for 210 days in the new capacity.

Pulte has been a staunch supporter of Trump, spending over a year identifying individuals he accuses of crimes. These individuals have either investigated Trump or belong to institutions Trump perceives as politically motivated against him.
