President Donald Trump attended the FIFA World Cup final at New York/New Jersey Stadium, watching Spain face Argentina. The event also featured First Lady Melania Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The packed stadium enjoyed a performance of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ by Jennifer Hudson.

Even though Team USA exited the tournament in the Round of 16 against Belgium, Hudson’s performance did not fall short. The crowd of over 80,000 fans erupted in applause as Hudson delivered each note perfectly. Trump was also captured on the FOX broadcast amidst the audience’s cheers.

The event was more than a soccer match. British singer Robbie Williams performed, and actor Tom Cruise addressed the audience, highlighting themes of togetherness and unity throughout the tournament hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The World Cup trophy arrived in a Louis Vuitton case, carried by Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz. 1978 Argentina World Cup champion Mario Kempes later showcased the trophy to the fans. Prior to the match, a FIFA reception at Trump Tower featured speeches by Trump and Infantino.

As the final ceremony concluded, Spain and Argentina took to the field at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The players were filled with anticipation as they hoped for victory.

Lionel Messi and Argentina aimed to defend their title after their triumph over France in Qatar in 2022. For Spain, it marked only their second World Cup final appearance, following their 2010 victory. Featuring promising talent Lamine Yamal and experienced players like Mikel Moreno, they were determined to seize the trophy.
