Trump and Stephen A. Smith Clash Over NBA Finals Attendance

President Donald Trump and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith exchanged criticisms over Trump’s attendance at the New York Knicks’ NBA Finals game. Smith criticized Trump’s presence, suggesting it negatively impacted NBA fans and the city. In response, Trump questioned Smith’s qualifications for office.

Smith, a host on ESPN’s “First Take,” expressed his disapproval on the show and his podcast. He criticized Trump’s America First policies, handling of the affordability crisis, and involvement in Middle East conflicts.

“Stephen A. Smith is an arrogant fool, a low IQ individual,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “In other words, he’s ‘dumb as a rock,’ and totally unqualified to ever think of running for political office, high or low.”

Trump added that Smith would be easily defeated in a political debate. He mocked Smith’s potential candidacy, comparing it unfavorably to Joe Biden’s performances.

Smith responded, clarifying his criticism was not political but focused on Trump’s impact on the event. He mentioned the inconvenience Trump’s attendance would create for fans gathered outside Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks, leading the series 2-1, are set to face the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4. This ongoing rivalry between Trump and Smith highlights the intersection of sports and politics.
