Tragic Accident Claims Infant’s Life in Chicago Suburb

On Sunday evening, a single-vehicle rollover crash resulted in the death of a six-month-old boy from Chicago. The tragic accident occurred while the vehicle was traveling on Interstate 57 in Harvey.

Illinois State Police reported that eight individuals were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Seven of these passengers sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Sadly, the infant, identified as a resident of Englewood, did not survive. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the child was pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital on the same night.

To facilitate the investigation, authorities closed northbound lanes of Interstate 57 for approximately five hours. An entrance ramp from 147th Street was also shut down. This caused significant disruptions in the area.

Illinois State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash as they work to understand what led to this devastating incident.
