Tom Homan Dismisses Racial Profiling Claims

White House border czar Tom Homan has criticized Florida candidate Angie Nixon for alleging that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) racially profiles Black Americans. In a discussion with Kayleigh McEnany on the program ‘Saturday in America,’ Homan defended law enforcement while addressing sanctuary city policies that he claims allow dangerous illegal immigrants back into communities. According to Homan, ICE’s operations specifically target these sanctuary areas.

Homan strongly rejected Nixon’s accusations, stating that immigration agents do not focus on race. ‘We don’t arrest people based on the color of their skin. I’m an equal opportunity deporter, having deported people to 180 countries last year,’ Homan asserted. He emphasized that people from any continent living illegally in the U.S. face deportation.

Angie Nixon, a recent winner of Florida’s Democratic primary, argues against detention centers and seeks the abolition of ICE as part of her campaign. Her priority list includes ending what she describes as ‘moral failures’ in mass incarceration and deportation. Nixon claims ICE cannot be trusted with its current powers and criticizes the agency’s methods as a form of ‘terror tactics,’ as stated on her campaign website.

Homan responded sharply to Nixon’s critiques, labeling them lies aimed at discrediting ICE officers. On the podcast ‘QNA: Questions Need Answers,’ Nixon accused Republicans of using federal agencies like ICE as instruments of violence against minority communities. She characterized ICE as a ‘weaponized paramilitary force’ causing harm.

Homan countered, ‘That’s a ridiculous statement. We don’t racially profile. We operate based on reasonable suspicion and probable cause, adhering to legal standards.’

Homan further criticized sanctuary cities, arguing that such policies lead to public safety risks. He cited the case of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who was killed during an ICE operation in Houston, as an illustration of the risks. Homan claimed sanctuary policies release criminals into communities, putting both officers and the public in harm’s way. ‘Sanctuary cities give criminals safety and make communities less safe by releasing threats back into the public,’ Homan noted. He stressed that street arrests posed greater risks for everyone involved.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also dismissed Nixon’s allegations, calling her comments ‘disgusting, reckless and categorically false.’ DHS emphasized that enforcement is based on immigration status, not race or ethnicity.
